When you think of spring, what do you think of? Blooming flowers and the return of warmer weather?
For the Pest Industry, like ourselves, this marks the peak season of one of the biggest threats to homes
and properties, Termites.
If you are concerned that these pests are invading your home. Here are 3 key things to be on the
lookout for:
- Swarmers: Massive swarms are normally the first sign of infestation. If you have piles of small insects or
wings near windows, doors, light fixture, there is a good chance that a swarm of termites is near, and a
colony may be nesting in your home. - Mud tubes: These tubes are tunnels that are used by termites to travel from their homes in the soil to
feed on the wood on your house. Tunnels are normally brown and the width of a pencil. These may be
found along concrete, drywall, or any other surface that extends upwards. - Damaged Wood: Termites feed on soft wood, like door frames and window trim and since they hollow
out underlying wood, thin painted services may still be intact. However, heavily infested wood typically
has soil or mud tubes in it, causing the wood to be brittle and break apart easily.
